Mrirt · Handmade in Morocco
Handwoven in the Mrirt tradition of the Middle Atlas, this Moroccan rug brings an architectural sensibility to its composition. Abstract gray geometric blocks-large rectangles, narrow vertical panels, and irregular forms-are arranged asymmetrically across an ivory ground. The negative-space pathways between the blocks create a second layer of pattern, giving the composition depth and complexity. The gray tones, achieved through natural dyeing, range from warm taupe to cool charcoal, creating subtle variation across the blocks that keeps the surface alive. The weaver has placed each block with attention to the balance of positive and negative space, creating a composition that feels deliberate and resolved. The dense plush pile with a soft, thick handwoven surface provides comfort and substance underfoot. Hand-knotted from 100% wool in Morocco, the rug brings together the restrained palette of contemporary design with the handcrafted authenticity of Mrirt weaving traditions. Fringed edges complete the finish. This rug brings structure and calm to any space. The gray-and-ivory palette is versatile across interior styles, while the abstract geometric composition adds visual interest without dominating. It works as an anchor in a living room, a grounding element in a bedroom, or a defining piece in a contemporary office or studio.
