Beni Ourain · Handmade in Morocco
Handwoven in the Beni Ourain tradition of the Middle Atlas Mountains, this Moroccan rug presents a warm ivory field crossed by an irregular black diamond lattice. Unlike perfectly repeating machine-made patterns, the diamond forms here vary in scale and spacing across the surface, giving the composition an organic, asymmetrical character that reveals the hand of the weaver at every intersection. The open geometric network of lozenges and intersecting diagonal lines creates a pattern that reads differently from every angle. From a distance, the lattice forms a unified field; up close, the individual variations in line weight and spacing become visible-evidence of the hand-spun wool and hand-tied knots that define authentic Beni Ourain weaving. The soft medium pile with a plush, slightly irregular handwoven surface provides comfort underfoot while maintaining the clarity of the pattern. Hand-knotted from 100% wool in Morocco, the rug is finished with fringe at both ends, honoring the traditional Beni Ourain aesthetic. This rug balances openness with structure. The generous ivory fields between the diamond motifs let the composition breathe, making the rug feel airy and spacious while the black lattice provides visual anchor. It works naturally in living rooms, bedrooms, and spaces where traditional craft meets contemporary design.
